Dreams CAN come TRUE!!

I'm a member of Tyler Perry's mailing group, so every once in a while he sends out words of encouragement or just an up to date message detailing his latest ventures. His latest one touched my heart..

It can be read here => http://www.tylerperry.com/_Messages/ (It's the message from 10/16}

His message talked about dreams. He mentioned how people's dreams can easily become a distant memory after worry and fear.

I, like many other individuals, have a dream. I dream to one day become a successful author. I want to touch people with my words.

The day I seen his message, I had just received a rejection letter from one of my queries. It just so happened that the day I got the letter, the message also appeared in my inbox but the message was supposed to had been sent about 3 days prior to me actually getting it...

I saw that as a I sign.. to NOT give up..

Everyone have a dream and something to work towards but, consequently, everyone also have aspects whose sole purpose is to destroy that dream. Whether those aspects be a rejection letter, a negative thought, or an non supportive family member or friend, they are out to make you stop dreaming.

Whatever you are dreaming, whatever you are hoping.. Don't give up. If the approach that you are taking is not working, then try another approach. If you come across an obstacle, go around it. Do whatever you have to do to make your dream a reality.

"Everything will try to knock you down, but only you can keep you down"
Dream DOES come TRUE so KEEP DREAMING!!!

Inter-Office Drama

I love The Office [NBC Thursday nights 8pm (central)]... I can't really remember when I started watching it [maybe 1 year ago] but I have been hooked ever since..

The Office follows the inter office romances, disagreements, humor, and side lives of the employees in the Dunden Mifflin Scranton Branch. It pretty much mimics real-life offices.. [Not mine cause software programmers really doesn't have that much fun, but I'm sure some others somewhere] The manager is Michael Scott. What can I say about Michael? He is a load full. He have to be the only boss I know that doesn't worry about work productivity. It would not be a day in the Scranton office if Michael didn't stall productivity with a party, non-work related meeting, funny/lame joke, or activity.

This is the fifth season on The Office and since season one a lot have happened. One of the biggest shockers is that Michael is a "baby daddy". Well, not really. His ex-girlfriend, Jan, which is also his ex-boss got pregnant by a sperm donor while she was still in a relationship with Michael. As it turns out because of her age, "she only had one shot to get it right" so she didn't want to take a chance on Michael being her baby's daddy and screawing the baby up. Michael found out about the baby 7 months into the pregnancy. After some thought, Michael decided to be the "baby's daddy".

On last night's show of The Office, Michael wanted to have a baby shower for Jan's "unborn" child. He gathered Phylis and Angela, the party planning committee, and asked them to throw the best baby shower ever. To every one's surprise, when Jan showed up she was not pregnant, but instead pushing a new born baby in the carrier-stroller. Jan had the baby and did not even inform Michael, the "baby daddy".

That level of disrespect leads to my point. Sure this is a TV show, but still....

Ok, Michael and Jan was dating for months [over a year]. She insulted him and pretty much took advantage of him every chance that she got. Michael had to work two jobs in order to keep Jan in her lifestyle after she was fired from Dunden Mifflin. They broke up after Jan's public act of disrespect towards Michael. Seven months later, after all that transpired, Michael was still there for Jan and even offered to be the "baby's daddy" Still after all of that Jan completely disrespected Michael again by having the baby and not even telling him. Michael was there through all of the lamaze classes but because Jan's birthing coach said that Michael shouldn't be there she cut him out of the delivery. The worst part is that she didn't have any intention of alerting Michael. She could have told him about the baby immediately following the delivery. She could have told him right before her release from the hospital. She could have at least told him once her and the baby made it home. But instead, she let Michael find out the same time as everyone else in the office...

TV show or not, that is totally over the line. Because I am female that will never happen to me [Since the baby will be coming out of me.. duh] but I am definitely not going to do that to a man either. A baby can only be born once. If you miss that moment, that is it. It will never come around again and you won't be able to make it up. It doesn't matter how I feel about the man, if he wants to be my "baby's daddy" then, by George, he will be there for the birth. No ifs, ands, or buts about it...

Election {Part 2}

It have been proven that Obama is a good candidate. He holds his own and have never, not once, displayed any stereotypical African-American behavior.

So it seems as if the election is already over and that there is no doubt that Obama will be president.

BUT....

What if Obama doesn't win? What if, despite of all the polls, surveys, debates, etc, McCain wins?

I predict a relapse into 1992. Obama is definitely the right candidate and all African Americans knows that so if Obama does not win, a repeat of the LA Riots of 1992 will definitely be a thing to fear. Except, instead of LA, it will be USA.

But honestly, I see some bad things happening regardless.. Racism is definitely still in effect. It is just that in today's time racist acts are not showcased cause there were a few laws that have been passed that deliver judicial consequences to those that exhibit such behavior. So obviously, unless you want to lose everything, you will keep all racist behavior on the hush. So just because racism is not evident, that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

With all that said, if Obama does win I still see a relapse but this time into the early 1900s. Some of society will not be able to handle Obama as president; especially those still segregated communities. That have been proven by all of the racial remarks and peripheral that have been brought to light since the election started..

But only time will tell...

Election 2008

Now since this is a sensitive subject, I will state this now:
What is found below is ONLY my opinion. NO sources was used to create this post. NONE are facts, but strictly opinions..

Since that is over with....

Election 2008

I have pretty much kept my mouth shut on this election cause I am torn. I have voiced my opinions in the past, but due to the content I have been fused at, scolded, and numerous other things.

Yes, I am a black female but I do not feel obligated to vote for Obama. I will not now, nor ever, vote for someone based on the color of their skin. Race is just that 'race'. It is not the definition of one's character nor is it the basis in which they stand. Their race is simply noted as the color of their skin and, for some, the qualities of their culture.

For this particular election, however, it is evident that Obama is the right choice regardless of skin color.

Deep down, I think that a conspiracy is going on within this election. Look at McCain and Palin. McCain is old as dirt and seems to have the personality of those back in 'those' days. [Ignorant, self-centered, unaware, etc] He is not voicing any facts and most of his plan will weaken the economy. Plus, he is proven to be a complete waste of space at the debates. Palin have a questionable history, little political experience, and have twisted views of the facts. Her family is all but pure. [If you can't control your family, you definitely won't control the country] From my point of view, McCain and Palin seems to be the worst candidates thus far. By why? Why now, when an African American is running that the candidates on the Republican ticket are complete jokes?

Now, I am not the most politically correct person in the world, but up until now I have never heard of Obama, McCain, Biden, or Palin. Why is now, during this election, the first time I have heard of any of them?

Is this a conspiracy in disguise? Did the Republican party purposely pick bad candidates, just so an African American could be in office? Some twenty years back, Jesse Jackson tried to run for office, but was denied. This society have not changed that much in twenty years so why now is an African American welcomed?

True, Obama is a good candidate. He is well-spoken, up-to-date on the economy's troubles, have plans that will generate results, and have a loving family. From all eyes looking in, he is the best man for the job. I will never deny Obama's capabilities because I see them myself. My point is why is Obama the only one on the ticket that could be considered a good candidate?

Why did the Republicans choose McCain and Palin? Why?

Media Gossip--

Every morning I alternate between two local radios stations during my commute to work; the Steve Harvey Morning Show, which airs on Q93, and the Wake Up Syndicate, which airs on MAX 94.1.

While listening to MAX 94.1, I caught the daily gossip segment. Their topic of choice was the list that Neyo supposedly made to diss other entertainment artists. I'm guessing they get someone their info from this site called Media Take Out cause most times they speak verbatim off the website..

Anyways... One item on "Neyo's list" was a statement about Chris Brown. Neyo is reported to have said that during a run in with Chris Brown, Chris smelled musty. Neyo was then reported to have brought it to Chris's attention, Chris then responded with 'My bad, dawg' and the matter was dropped.

The radio djs on MAX 94.1 made a BIG deal about it. They started making comments about Chris' hygiene habit then just blew the whole matter out of proportion.

Everyone in this world have been musty a time of two.

Who knows what Chris was doing before his run in with Neyo. Chris is known to dance a lot. He is constantly moving. So a person on the move will naturally become musty after a period of time. Maybe Chris was on his way home to take a shower. Maybe Chris just got done dancing.

My point is... It is no big deal but the media blew it way out of proportion. Things that happen in celebrity lives happen to EVERYONE..

Well I take it back. Not everything cause I know for a fact I do not live in a mansion, have tens of cars parked in my driveway, have millions in the bank, and have the world bowing at my feet. So not everything that happens in celebrities lives, but the normal life stuff....

So what if Chris was musty. Let him be musty. So because of the advertising from the media everyone will be talking about Chris' body odors..

The media gossip is getting way out of hand. Most things that are promoted on the radio really should stay behind closed doors.

I feel the media is only out to make fun. They never say reasons or even try to clarify the matter. The media's first and only thought is to find out the juicy details in hopes of adding humor to it.

Why must society strive on this? Why must society listen to the media gossip?

Employee Termination

About five weeks ago, I put in my notice of resignation at my last job.

Just like many other people in the midst of this recession, my paycheck was an issue, not to mention the price of gas for my 50 mile commute each day. So, of course, I left for a better paying job.

Like asked, I gave a notice of resignation. However, due to personal reasons, my resignation was only a week instead of two.

I ended my tenure with my old company with high marks. There was no hard feelings or negative expressions. Or so I thought.

Since my last day was in the middle of a pay period, I had to wait a week before I got my last check. That was understandable so I had no problem with that. The week that I was supposed to get my check Gustav came, so because of his effects I didn't get my check until a week after that. Because I opted to get my last check mailed, that caused an additional waiting period. So total, my last check came approximately three weeks after my last day of work. I had no problem with that either because 'things happen'.

What I did have a problem with was after I deposited my two-week late check, it was returned due to insufficient funds. Imagine my surprise, a week after I deposited the check, when I tried to withdraw money and was told that I couldn't because of insufficient funds.

Immediately, identity theft filled my mind cause I knew I deposited a check a week ago and I also knew that I had not had any charges or withdrawals since then. As the bank teller was going through my transactions, I started to get anxious. All the while, I was thinking 'Is this really happening to me', but then the truth came out.

I was not a victim of identity theft, as I suspected, but instead a victim of employee termination.

I called my old job in hopes of getting an explanation but instead I got the run around. It seems as if everyone was 'off' that day. I have been known to have a temper, so I waited a while before making that first call. The first time I called, no answer. The second time still no answer. Since my temper was still cool, I thought 'Maybe it was a mistake, so I will just call back on Monday', considering how it was a Friday afternoon. But somewhere between the bank and my current job, my temper came back. It may have been triggered by two unanswered phone calls and a car ride full of thought.

I picked up my phone, this time full of rage, and dialed the company's number once again. I got an answer that time. I asked to speak to the lady over payroll. [Since it is a small company, one lady handles human resources, payroll, and all business development] She was not there, but I was not going to let that phase me. I asked to speak to anyone that could help me regarding a returned check. I was then transferred to another lady who told me that I could expect my check the following week during the regular pay period's checks disbursement. I ended the phone conversation, but not before mentioning the added fees that I expected to be included in the check. She agreed.

The following week, I called about my check and was told that the CEO had not signed them yet, but I will be able to pick it up the next midday.

The day came when I could finally pick up my check. To my dismay, the fees was not added. I was even given the story that the check was returned cause they thought that they paid me for two weeks. I believe that that story was in effort to hide that fact that they wrote a bad check because any little research would have shown that I was only paid for one week.

It have been one week and a few days since I picked up my check. I still have not received the check that would take care of my fees. The same check that was promised to me a week ago.

However, I did receive another check in the mail; the returned check from my last job that the bank sent. It was, indeed, returned due to insufficient funds and the account number on that check differed from the account number of the new check.

Was it sabotage? Was it an accident? Or was I just a victim of employee termination??

Love...

Love... I went back and forth on whether I should follow that mysterious word with a question mark or a period. Why a question mark? Because as of today I still don't know exactly what love means and what it brings. I thought about a period but because I don't fully understand it, I can't possibly be informative about it. So I went with the simple, yet feasible dot-dot-dot...

I just seen Sex and the City, the movie. It was one of the best movies I have ever seen throughout my lifetime. I rented it, but I think I may very well buy it. I suggest that any person who have ever been in love, who is in love now, or who would like to be in love sometime in their future watch this movie. This movie questioned my meaning of love and broaden my awareness.

Samantha's story really brought love to light. She was in a relationship for over 5 years, but in the end she chose herself over her mate. I gave her a round of applause. The notion of love was mentioned. Thinking about it all the stories of love brought love to light. Carrie have been with Big for years. They had their ups and downs. Big brought an apartment, then the thought of what if entered Carrie's mind. So, they agreed to get married, but on the wedding day Big got cold feet and confessed his fears by stating 'he just couldn't get out of the car'. After 6+ months of no contact, their essence of love shined and was finally named Mr and Mrs Big. Steve confessed that he cheated to Miranda, but only after their marital troubles was highlighted. Divorce was mentioned, but after a 6+ months separation, their love shined and they shared their love intimately. Charlotte loved happily and stayed happy. All in all, all aspects of love was highlighted. From cheating to heartache to tears to fears to smiles to frowns to confusion to regret to endless love. Love was captured and love definitely shined.

What exactly does being in love mean? Does it mean giving up one's self? Does it mean changing one's self to appeal to another's image? Does it mean acting a certain, yet pleasing way? Does it mean repaying someone else for their love? Does it mean putting the person you love happiness above your own? Does it mean being all about the person that you love? Does being in love always have to be about 'we' and no more 'I'? What the hell is love? And why is it so complicated?

I'm in love now, but maybe the relationship I have with myself is more valuable than the relationship I have with my boyfriend. I love him so much that I only want to see him happy. I do and say anything that is needed to make him feel like the best man on earth, but in the process I have lost sight of myself. I try so hard to make him feel special, but yet I don't feel special. I try so hard to make him happy, but yet I am not happy. I bend and bend to fulfill his needs, but yet my needs are left unmet. I feel all of this, but yet I am in love.

So what exactly is love? When in love, must you put yourself second? When in love, must your sole purpose be to provide happiness for the one that you are in love with? When in love, does everything else not matter?

Love? What the hell is it? How does it suppose to make you feel? When in love, true love, should both parties be completely happy? If so, then what am I in?

Why can't love be defined in book? Why can't the true definition of being in love be found on Wikipedia? Why can't I go to my mentor and question the meaning of love? Why can't I Google love and find a clear and direct meaning? Why must love be so complicated?

Love...

Just Speaking....

Where do I begin?? *thinking* Umm.... *still thinking* I guess, I'll just begin at the beginning.... The Game.. You know the sitcom on CW TV starring Tia Mowry, Pooch Hall, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Keeyan Ivory Wayans' jump off aka Brittany Daniel, and some others... Let's just say that I was UNIMPRESSED with the season premiere..

I centered my whole evening around this show. I made it a point to be glued to my TV between 7:00 and 8:00 central time. [I also had to catch Everybody Hates Chris.. I will touch on that one later].... That will be an hour of my day that I will never get back...

The Game's History: Now, I LOVED the first season. Melanie's and Derwin's relationship, Tasha's and Malik's mother and son bond, and even Jason's and Kelly's super marriage all made the show. That season finale from Season 1 kept me on the edge of my chair every night waiting for the premiere. I had that episode saved on my DVR all up until the season premiere came on and even then I was hesitant about deleting it. It was just something about that closing scene that made me want to scream 'Girl Power'.... lol It wasn't until I actually saw the Season 2 premiere that I started to question my love for the show. Season 1 ended with a bang, but Season 2 started with a bucket of ice water and a couple of firefighters packing up their truck as if leaving a fire that they just put out. It seemed so fake the way Melanie stormed up to those girls and the way she acted leaving the hotel was straight for TV. Now the Season 1 finale was real and thatw what captured my attention. Don't get me wrong... I LOVED The Game even when they shot that promo during an episode of Girlfriends. So they will always have a place on my DVR..

The second season was ok. After the season premiere, my interest sort of drooped. I still have yet to watch all of them. [I may catch the episodes that can be viewed online] The season was worth watching all up until Derwin did a complete 360 and was through with Melanie. Now that is just something that I don't understand. This boy went to the ends to get her back, then just out of no where BAM!! he is done with her and went the next chick. I think once the writer's talent left so did the viewership...

Anywhooo.. The second season had it's falls. I watched the Season 2 finale, but since I was not all up in the season I was not that into it.. It pretty much ended with Melanie now realizing that she still loved Derwin, Malik getting married to Robin Givens [who may or may not be on the show this season since she did not appear in the season premiere], and Jason announcing that he never loved Kelly in the beginning [Now that right there spun me for a loop cause I NEVER seen that one coming]...

I had an urge to watch the Season 3 premiere but that was only cause it was the premiere. And who wants to miss those? No one, indeed. {I just had a flash back to Terry Crews when he used to flex his chest muscles to that...lol HILARIOUS!!! Ok, back to The Game} But this premiere was a BIG let down. Ok, first Melanie ran over to Derwin's apartment and attacked him like a lil hoe. Now I understand that they was in a long serious relationship but dang girl have a lil class. Then when his future baby mama left the apartment, the way Melanie acted was so TV. I mean, really, who is writing this episodes?? Kelly's mom and step-paw was WAY over the top. Their class must have went out the window with Kelly's female upper parts.. They was definitely the bottom of the barrel.. And Malik and Tasha [trying to think of something else besides shaking my head].... Ummm.... How he is carrying on his ridiculous. I understand, make him afraid of his mama so boost the ratings but come on now, give the dude a lil backbone..

And the way Melanie held in those tears when she found out that Derwin was really going to be a daddy, p-lease... She should have told him how she really felt cause all that will do cause trouble. But I guess that is what they want. I don't know, I guess I am a more realist so of course I will want to watch a show that was also real. The Game tonight was strictly TV... And when Melanie walked in to the PR's apartment, I just knew that the PR and Melanie's ex had something going on. After all the chick was in a bra and a bottom, but I guess not. Now that would have been some much needed semi-real life drama...

I am happy though that Melanie and Derwin are back together.. I am just not sure how long it will last...

All in all, I was very disappointed with this season's premiere. The acting was sub-par and the writer's should be shot... But of course, I will watch it only because I am a beginning fan, but they have to do better...

Coming soon.... Everybody Hates Chris.. but for not very long...
Stay tuned!!

That Time Once AGAIN!!!

It's that magical time once AGAIN!!! MY BIRTHDAY MONTH!! [Waiting for all of the 'Yays' to stop..lol] But one the real, October is designated as my birthday month. This is a special birthday month cause in this month, I will be turning 25!!

Just like I TRIED last year, I will post something every 'week'day of my birthday month. I have not decided what I will post but I know it will be of some type of theme.

Big plans?? Ummm.. That is a tough one. I had plans on taking a cruise, but that ship sank for many reasons so now my birthday celebration is in the air. My boyfriend is keeping hush mouth about what he have planned so I am not sure about what he have up his sleeve. I am just hoping it is something big cause a girl can only turn 25 once..

Ooh.. I probably always known and as well probably always mentioned it but.... I will be turning 25 on the 25th.. That makes this birthday even more special...lol

Dear Abby....

I am a regular Dear Abby reader. I usually read her segments as they are posted on Yahoo News. Sometimes her advice is coherent with mine and other times we differ significantly. On this one particular matter [that I will describe below], my advice would be somewhat different..

Taken from an Oct 1st article:

DEAR ABBY: My 22-year-old daughter was driving on a busy street when she noticed an older gentleman in running shorts lying on the median. She stopped, turned on her hazard lights and went to help. He was unresponsive, but breathing. When she called 911, she was told that more than 100 motorists had reported a "dead man" on the street, but no one had stopped to check on him. Police, an ambulance and a fire truck arrived shortly after her call. Abby, at what point do we become invisible? When do we cease to be important? Would it have been different if that person had been a child or someone in his 30s? Have we lost our humanity? -- DISAPPOINTED IN TAMPA

DEAR DISAPPOINTED: I doubt whether the situation would have been different if the man had been in his 30s rather than a senior. If a child had been lying there ... maybe. The passing motorists may have thought they had "done their duty" by calling 911 and were afraid to do more because they didn't know what else to do. Have we lost our humanity? Some people may have, but your daughter isn't one of them. Orchids to her, and to you, for having raised such a caring -- and proactive -- individual.

Now, I am as caring as the next, but recent times have caused for different measures. I have never been in a position where I had to react for someone's safety. If I would have passed a man that I thought was dead, I most likely would have called 9-1-1.

Would I had stopped? That is a complicated question.

  • One thing to consider is traffic. Since a median was mentioned, I am guessing it is atleast a two-lane two-way road. Most roads with medians, does not have adequate space to pull over by that median. All of this said, that does not completely rule out pulling over and checking on the man. I am just saying that traffic would be a consideration. For someone to stop, they must park their car on the opposite side of where the man was then run across the street. Depending on traffic, those two can be a complicated task all in its own..
  • Another thing to consider is safety. Yes, the man is lying down there, but why? Sure the man could have passed out from dehydration, but what if that same man was a con man? What if his plan is to lure unsuspecting individuals to his aid, ask for a ride home, then once in the car do God's knows what. [Now, that scenario is a lil far fetched, but it can happen]..
The scenario of what if it was a child was mentioned. If it was a child, I probably would have stopped. Children have an innocent image. They are believed to not do any harm. Because of that, yes I would help a child cause there will be nothing to fear. Now, if that image is broken then maybe just calling 9-1-1 would be the best bet.

All I am saying is that just because someone did not stop, that doesn't mean that they are a bad person. With the economy, more things have to be considered..
