I love The Office [NBC Thursday nights 8pm (central)]... I can't really remember when I started watching it [maybe 1 year ago] but I have been hooked ever since..
The Office follows the inter office romances, disagreements, humor, and side lives of the employees in the Dunden Mifflin Scranton Branch. It pretty much mimics real-life offices.. [Not mine cause software programmers really doesn't have that much fun, but I'm sure some others somewhere] The manager is Michael Scott. What can I say about Michael? He is a load full. He have to be the only boss I know that doesn't worry about work productivity. It would not be a day in the Scranton office if Michael didn't stall productivity with a party, non-work related meeting, funny/lame joke, or activity.
This is the fifth season on The Office and since season one a lot have happened. One of the biggest shockers is that Michael is a "baby daddy". Well, not really. His ex-girlfriend, Jan, which is also his ex-boss got pregnant by a sperm donor while she was still in a relationship with Michael. As it turns out because of her age, "she only had one shot to get it right" so she didn't want to take a chance on Michael being her baby's daddy and screawing the baby up. Michael found out about the baby 7 months into the pregnancy. After some thought, Michael decided to be the "baby's daddy".
On last night's show of The Office, Michael wanted to have a baby shower for Jan's "unborn" child. He gathered Phylis and Angela, the party planning committee, and asked them to throw the best baby shower ever. To every one's surprise, when Jan showed up she was not pregnant, but instead pushing a new born baby in the carrier-stroller. Jan had the baby and did not even inform Michael, the "baby daddy".
That level of disrespect leads to my point. Sure this is a TV show, but still....
Ok, Michael and Jan was dating for months [over a year]. She insulted him and pretty much took advantage of him every chance that she got. Michael had to work two jobs in order to keep Jan in her lifestyle after she was fired from Dunden Mifflin. They broke up after Jan's public act of disrespect towards Michael. Seven months later, after all that transpired, Michael was still there for Jan and even offered to be the "baby's daddy" Still after all of that Jan completely disrespected Michael again by having the baby and not even telling him. Michael was there through all of the lamaze classes but because Jan's birthing coach said that Michael shouldn't be there she cut him out of the delivery. The worst part is that she didn't have any intention of alerting Michael. She could have told him about the baby immediately following the delivery. She could have told him right before her release from the hospital. She could have at least told him once her and the baby made it home. But instead, she let Michael find out the same time as everyone else in the office...
TV show or not, that is totally over the line. Because I am female that will never happen to me [Since the baby will be coming out of me.. duh] but I am definitely not going to do that to a man either. A baby can only be born once. If you miss that moment, that is it. It will never come around again and you won't be able to make it up. It doesn't matter how I feel about the man, if he wants to be my "baby's daddy" then, by George, he will be there for the birth. No ifs, ands, or buts about it...
