I can not imagine being a single mother.. Forget the financial responsibility that goes into it.. My philosophy is "if one did it, I can too" so handling that aspect wouldn't be a problem..
My problem would be emotional detactment.
Because that female is a single mother, that also means that there is a father somewhere. Unless that father is a complete deadbeat, he would want to see that child. Because the father and mother are not together, the father will see the child without the mother. That is what I can't imagine doing.
I LOVE my son.. He is the best little boy in the whole wide world. I can't imagine being away from him.. He is 14 months and I have only been away from him for about 7 days his whole life. For 2 days, he stayed by my parents during the Thanksgiving holidays.. [Me and my husband both had to work Monday and Tuesday so Sunday and Monday night he was gone.... sniff, sniff.. But trying to save money on daycare cause it is a BEAST!! LOL] Then right before the Christmas holidays, he caught a bad cold and couldn't go to daycare so Monday and Tuesday I stayed home with him and Wednesday I went to work.. [Hubby had to work all three days as well]. And then... A week after Mardi Gras, I caught the flu and then, unfornately, so did my hubby.. So Friday to Tuesday, my son was with my parents..
So other than those 7 days, my son has been in my face and I in his..
Single mothers have to go through days and sometimes weeks at a time without seeing their child. At least when my son is away, I can still call every other second just to check on him but depending on the single parents' relationship with each other the mother may just have to 'hope' that the child is okay..
*sigh*
