Last night at 1:36AM, the phone rung. Because me and my husband was dead tired, all it did was rung cause neither of us even attempted to respond to the ring... lol
Anyways.. I asked him to read the caller ID after it stopped ringing and it said EBR SpeedRing. Neither of us knew what that meant. It just so happened that at 1:50AM Jayden woke up for his bottle so my husband went in the kitchen to fix it. As he passed the living room, he noticed we had a message on the answering machine so listened to it.
As it turns out EBR SpeedRing is an automatic service that calls residents to alert them of a missing child.
I was like.. WTH!!! OK.. I have sympathy for the parents but 1:36AM? I mean really.. Couldn't that call have been made during regular hours? If the ringer would have been on in our room that phone call would have scared the living day lights out of me. BUT I just let it go and went back to sleep but not before making a mental note to called EBR and complain..
So, I made it to work and noticed that I had a message on my company phone. I checked it and it was the same EBR SpeedRing. They called at 1:21AM.. Again WTH!!! I am still waiting to see if everyone got that message or just me. [People here listen to their messages on speaker and since my office door is always open, I could somewhat make out the messages of my office neighbors]
Never in my day have I heard of an automatic service that called everyone and their mama to tell them of a missing child. Sure, if it was mine, I would want the message out but 1 in the morning.. Isn't there a more appropriate time??
