Well this blog entry is not about their planned nuptials although they are rather rushed but instead the last sentence of the article.
His other son, Jayden, was 7 months old when he died in his crib in 2006.
This sentence caught my eye for two reasons: [1] My son's name is Jayden and is spelled the same way and [2] in a previous article, I read that his infant son died of SIDS.
I am not a SIDS expert, but I thought SIDS was common in younger infants; like 4 months and below. I read an article that said that the risk of SIDS is substantially lowered once a child is able to roll over. I expect a child to roll over by 6 months, which is why that statement struck me..
Being a parent is hard. My head is filled with constant worries. One way of staying calm throughout it all was thinking that SIDS is only a great risk NOW but won't be an issue as my son grows. Hearing about Lamar's son brought my panic meter up 100 points. SIDS is not thoroughly explained. No doctor or scientist know the exact cause of SIDS. Some only explain some preventative methods with no mention of clear, concise facts.
Basically, SIDS is a parent's worst nightmare cause it can just sneak up with no warning.
So, now I have the SIDS monster on my back for at least another 10 months. And it doesn't help that the child mentioned had the exact same name as my own...
